We provide additional information and instruction on what recent medical transcription (MT) graduates are lacking before starting their career in the medical transcription industry.

Transcription companies use a wide variety of platforms for transcription (most working within Word or providing voice files that have to be transcribed in Word).  MTs need to know if they have Word (often mistaken as Works), the correct version of Word with current updates, enough memory/processor speed for particular platforms and the like.  Most recent graduate MTs assume they have what they need as far as their computer is concerned because it is what they used in school.  This is not always the case.
