The average MT graduate is in the midst of a career change; leaving the office for the home office without any clue on how to effectively operate their own home computer.
Does my computer have enough memory? What version of Word do I have? Is my operating system compatible to the position I am applying for?
A vast amount of transcription companies only offer independent contractor (IC) positions. This means the burden of computer knowledge falls on the MT from computer setup to work their new position, knowing their computer’s compatibilities, and keeping their computer running in order to work on a consistent basis.
We have spent years in the transcription business helping MTs setup their computer only to find they do not have the necessary software/hardware to do the job, when the MT “thought” they did. This course will make sure they KNOW what is on their computer and how to use it properly.
Not an MT? Not a problem. More and more people are realizing how important just basic computer skills are. Nowadays, you need basic computer skills just to apply for a job through a kiosk machine as companies no longer use paper application forms. You even need computer skills to apply for unemployment. Older workers face the most obstacles as they are the hardest hit by the demand for computer skills. Taking courses at the local college can be expensive and cost more than $500. We offer an inexpensive way to learn your computer from the privacy of your own home and we won't even give you any homework! We are now a Trident One-Stop Career Center local provider for the basic computer course (as of June 2010).
